🌱 A creative exploration of floral design from a contemporary perspective

This course is designed for those who wish to explore floral design from an artistic, modern, and emotional perspective. Over three practical modules, we'll explore influences such as Japanese ikebana, contemporary art, and sustainable installations, developing compositions with intention, aesthetics, and concept.
 An experience to let go of the familiar, be inspired, and create flowers with soul.

🌸 MODULE 1

Floral design inspired by Ikebana

Aim:Introduce students to the philosophy and aesthetics of Japanese ikebana, exploring the relationship between flowers, space, and minimalist gestures.
Approach:Spirituality, emptiness, clean lines, use of negative space, natural harmony.

  • Brief history of Ikebana and its main schools.
  • Aesthetic principles: asymmetry, emptiness, movement and naturalness.
  • Technique for working with kenzan and low containers.
  • Floral selection focused on simple lines, textures and shapes.

Practice:Ikebana style composition (you take your design + container + reusable kenzan)

🌸 MODULE 2

Modern and Contemporary Floral Design

Aim:Explore new floral aesthetics, abstract forms, monochromes, block design, and sculptural structures.
Approach:Modernity, rule-breaking, artistic and avant-garde design.

  • A brief overview of contemporary floral styles (Scandinavian, Japanese, and modern art influences).
  • Principles of block design and monochrome.
  • Exploration of unconventional materials and support structures.
  • Sculptural techniques: wire, sustainable foam, mesh, tubes.

Practice:Blocky sculptural floral arrangement, with an abstract shape and a monochromatic palette

🌸 MODULE 3

Modern and Sustainable Floral Installations

Aim:Design a visually striking floral installation using environmentally friendly techniques and materials.
Approach:Sustainability, scale, emotion, space and experience.

  • Introduction to floral installations as an expressive medium.
  • Spatial principles: rhythm, repetition, scale and visual focus.
  • Foam-free floral techniques: mesh, reusable mesh, tubes, hidden containers.
  • Collaborative work: creating a group installation.
  • Tips for conscious assembly, transport and disassembly.

Practice:Group floral installation + individual mini installation that you can take home

I am Daniela Ramírez, founder of Clementina Estudio Floral.

Along the way, I discovered floral design as a profound form of artistic expression, where aesthetics, color, shape, and emotion intertwine to tell stories.

I've had the opportunity to train in floral design in cities like London, Madrid, and Mexico City, where I strengthened my creative and technical vision, combining what I learned with my personal perspective and a sensitivity deeply connected to nature.
